The Syrian Dandelion

Shamil

The Doctor

Shamil is a doctor, a father, and a man torn between duty and guilt. Having left Syria years ago, he built a life in London, but exile has not granted him peace. His return to Syria is not just a journey across borders but a confrontation with his past, his estranged family, and the war he had no desire to get involved with.

Laila

The Wife

Laila has spent years in a state of limbo, raising Zain alone in Syria while Shamil was abroad. Once independent, she has learned to navigate a society where women are expected to be silent. Her love for Shamil has evolved over their years of separation, but doubt has taken root. His return is not just a reunion—it is a test of everything she has endured in his absence.

Jassim

The Colonel

Jassim is Shamil’s uncle and a high-ranking officer in the Syrian Air Force Intelligence (SAFI). Unlike Shamil, who fled, and Laila, who endured, Jassim chose power. To him, loyalty is everything. He believes that order—no matter how brutal—is better than chaos. He sees himself as a protector of the family and the country, even as he orchestrates violence in the name of stability.
